In case you didn’t know, I’m a credit card queen.
I love swiping that shit, so I’m starting a new series of keeping myself accountable – no swiping and seeing how much I can limit my spending.
This weekend was eh, OK for the most part. A very close friend of mine got married (truly amazing), so I ended up spending a lot of my energy focused on that. But, does that mean that I got away without spending much? You bet your bottom dollar it does not! Why? Because when I get caught up in the moment I make poor decisions. See below for full spending transparency.
Friday
- $14 for a breakfast sandwich and coffee (super underwhelming, why do I do this?)
- $200 Cash Withdrawal (Wedding Gift for Saturday Wedding)
- $50 Venmo Donation to a family of a friend who passed
- $23 Venmo for Mexican lunch with coworkers (it was a truly horrific taco salad, I opted out of having a drink, but don’t regret it because I had the chance to bond with coworkers)
- $21.07 at Rite Aid for wedding card, Celsius energy drink for my hungover boyfriend, and a 4-pack of High Noons to sip on the bus ride from downtown to the wedding venue
- $10 for Parking Downtown
- $17 Venmo to a friend for ONE margarita downtown before my friend’s welcome drinks (ridiculous)
Saturday
- $80.87 Deduction for Pet Insurance (Good God this feels high)
- $133 at the grocery store for hopefully 2 weeks worth of groceries (I’m going to stretch this as far as I possibly can get it – stay tuned)
- $14.35 for Parking Downtown (parking is starting to add up, eh?)
- $44 for Wedding after-party drinks
Sunday
- $0 πΈπ»
- *Disclaimer – I spent $0 on Sunday simply due to the fact my food was covered by a post-wedding brunch and my sweetheart of a boyfriend going out, buying a bottle of wine and ingredients to cook Chicken Piccata for our Sunday dinner.
Total Roundup: $607.29
This blows my budget out of the water let-me-tell-you. In my dream world, I will have one more expense between today (August 21) and my next paycheck (September 1). I need gas in the car in order to get to the gym – let’s hope that $20 will cover me.
A Moment to Reflect
How do I really feel about these expenses? Kind of ridiculous. I live walking distance from downtown. I spent $24 on parking – what am I doing? Per usual, alcohol is the culprit for a lot of my spending. Listen, I don’t have a drinking problem, but I’m going to come up with a reasonable resolution to fix this massive black hole of spending I’ve created.
